Oh dear ... — There is much about the Village, all of it amazing/great/wonderful ... etc. — Oh dear !
People — New friends, such as those here today, gathered around the Christmas dinner table. I have discovered a new reason to "entertain". But I gave away my multiple dishes for feeding masses of people. So, we are being quite casual, good at passing things around, helping ourselves, being attentive, and talking about things we all care about. Somehow we have sort of self-selected.
My husband Bill and I stumbled into this community during a winter trip. Met people. Shared Brown Bag lunch Mondays. Movies on site Monday nights. Pot luck community dinners. A shared library for give and take, and keep what you want. Neighbors of astonishing neighborliness. Swimming, yoga, hiking, ... all of which is open to residents — to share ! That's the operative word for me.
Author : Robin Gaither — I am a scavenger. I love thrift shops, or actually picking up bits and pieces here and there. In our verdant Sonoran desert (yes, it's green!), I also pick up things visually: birds, rocks, sky, clouds. I create things: jewelry, pictures, decor, ... out of recycled stuff. A Christmas present this year says across my chest “I am not a pack rat, I am a collector” — of the beauty I find around me, which I re-use and turn into "recyjewels" of all sorts.
